Starbucks customer who ordered Charlie Kirk’s drink shocked after seeing message written on cup

Since the tragic death of conservative activist Charlie Kirk on 10 September, his supporters have been sharing various ways they're honoring his memory.

A popular trend has emerged following a Starbucks incident, where a customer attempted to order Kirk's preferred drink, a Mint Majesty tea with two honeys, asking for his name to be written on the cup.

The barista declined the request, explaining that they 'can't use political names', and offered to write just 'Charlie' instead.

Starbucks later addressed the situation with a statement, stating: "When customers wish to use a different name - such as Charlie Kirk - for their order, we aim to respect their choice."

Many have since tried the trend themselves, including one Starbucks customer who ordered Kirk's drink and was surprised by the message on their cup.

Charlie Kirk was shot while speaking at Utah Valley University earlier this month (10 September) (Turning Point USA)

Posting on Facebook yesterday (22 September), the customer shared a photo of the three-word message allegedly written by the barista: 'racists fav drink'.

Critics argue that Kirk held racist, Islamophobic, and misogynistic views.

These critics point to Kirk's belief that the Civil Rights Act of 1964 was a mistake, leading to a 'permanent DEI-type bureaucracy,' referring to diversity, equity, and inclusion.

They also note his denial of systemic racism, promotion of the Great Replacement theory, use of Christian nationalist rhetoric, criticism of white privilege as a 'racist idea', and opposition to critical race theory.

The customer captioned their post: "The girl at Starbucks thought she was clever. I don’t even support Starbucks due to their beliefs, starting with their satanic logo, but I support Charlie Kirk, so I decided to try his drink.

"Thank you, Starbucks, for reminding me why I prefer to support my local Christian-owned coffee shop. Well done.

"This happened at the Starbucks inside Kroger on Towne Blvd in Middletown, OH."

In a follow-up comment, the Facebook user mentioned: "I received a call from a Kroger manager, and the employee was terminated this morning.

"Between last night and this morning, several Kroger employees reached out to me, taking the issue seriously. As a long-time customer of this Kroger, I appreciate their prompt response. Thank you, Kroger, for doing the right thing."

A Starbucks spokesperson told Fox News Digital: "Writing such messages on a cup is unacceptable, and we have clear policies to prevent negative messages, ensuring a welcoming environment.

"This Starbucks location is operated by Kroger. We understand that the associate was terminated by Kroger."

Kroger confirmed the termination in an email to Fox News Digital on Monday (22 September), stating: "This behavior does not reflect Kroger’s values."

The customer told the outlet: "I agree that employees should be fired for actions like this."

She emphasized that 'actions have repercussions'.

She also asserted that Kirk 'stood for respect', adding: "We don’t have to agree on everything. We can disagree on many things, but mutual respect is essential.

"We can’t communicate and grow if we’re disrespecting each other."

Following the incident, she declared: "I don’t intend to spend another penny at Starbucks - and as far as I’m concerned, neither will my children or anyone else in my family who listens to me."
