Meghan Markle appears to have confirmed a longstanding rumor about the British royal family, particularly concerning her husband, the Duke of Sussex.
This revelation revolves around his unusual culinary preferences.
In the latest season of her Netflix series With Love, Meghan, which premiered on the streaming platform last week on August 26th, the Duchess of Sussex made a surprising comment about Prince Harry.

For those needing a reminder, the show features Meghan inviting friends and celebrity guests to her Montecito, California home, where she shares tips on cooking, gardening, and hosting.
It premiered in April this year and quickly returned for a second season, capturing the attention of fans eager to glimpse the mother-of-two's lifestyle.
In season two, Meghan hosted a new lineup of famous personalities, including Chrissy Teigen, Tan France, David Chang, Jay Shetty, Christina Tosi, and Samin Nosrat.
The moment that sparked discussion was not about her own food tastes but rather a tidbit about her husband Prince Harry—specifically, the one dish he 'refuses to eat.'

While chatting with José Andrés during the season finale, she revealed to the Spanish-American chef: "Do you know who doesn't like lobster? My husband."
Andrés jokingly responded: "And you married him anyway?"
This is significant because it seems to confirm a long-held belief about what the British royal family eats—and what they avoid.

The theory is that the royals typically avoid seafood due to the increased risk of food poisoning.
Grant Harrold, a former royal butler to King Charles III, told The Mirror: "When dining, the Royal Family has to be cautious with shellfish due to the risk of shellfish poisoning, considering their work commitments. It is wise to refrain from having seafood while on public duties."
He further told The Express: "It's a sensible decision to avoid seafood during public engagements. We certainly don't want a royal member experiencing a severe reaction to food poisoning."
Adding: "Especially during overseas tours. Thus, you typically won't find seafood on the royal menu."

However, it's uncertain how strictly this guideline is followed, as we've seen the King himself enjoying seafood at a public event.
In 2013, during an appearance at the Whitstable Oyster Festival, the monarch was seen enjoying the popular shellfish directly from the shell.
Meanwhile, former royal chef Darren McGrady attempted to debunk the myth, recently sharing a photo on Twitter of a royal menu from 1989.

The photo showed that the late Queen Elizabeth II actually enjoyed seafood, having dined on 'soufflé de homard' (with 'homard' being French for lobster) at Windsor Castle that year.
So, who knows, maybe it's a more recent development—we'll have to watch for more insights from Meghan!
