Meghan McCain quietly deletes brutal criticism of Ben Affleck’s daughter Violet following masks plea

Meghan McCain has quietly removed her critical remarks about Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner's daughter, Violet, following her address at the UN earlier this week.

Violet is the oldest child of these two Hollywood A-listers, who were married from 2005 to 2015, with their divorce finalized in 2018. The former couple also have two other children: Seraphina, 16, and Samuel, 13.

Violet, currently studying public health at Yale University, spoke at the UN in New York during an event titled 'Healthy Indoor Air: A Global Call to Action'.

She was seen wearing a mask at the event, something she frequently does since being diagnosed with a 'post-viral condition' in 2019.

During her speech, Violet urged global leaders to take airborne illnesses seriously and emphasized that the battle against long COVID is far from over.

"It is the highest form of negligence to look children in the eyes and say, 'We knew how to protect you, and we didn’t do it,'" she declared, while criticizing society's push to return 'back to normal' and downplaying the ongoing risks.

The teenager, who has authored a research paper in Yale's Global Health Review comparing the responses to the LA wildfires and the COVID-19 pandemic, also argued that clean air should be considered as much a human right as clean water. She added: "We can create clean air infrastructure that is so widespread and obviously necessary, future generations won’t even question why it’s needed."

"Long COVID has surpassed asthma as the most common chronic illness in children under five," Violet continued, expressing her fear for children who 'will not know a world without debilitating pain and exhaustion' due to COVID.

"Young people lacked both real choice in the matter and information about what was being decided for us," she added.

"We are told by leaders that we are the future. Yet, regarding the ongoing pandemic, our present is being taken away right before our eyes."

Violet's speech evidently did not sit well with McCain, the daughter of John McCain, a US senator from Arizona and the 2008 Republican presidential nominee, prompting her to take to social media to criticize the teen's speech.

"Everything about this is why people dislike nepo babies so much," the 40-year-old former The View co-host wrote in her post.

She continued: "She has no business speaking at the UN," adding that "what she is discussing is patently absurd."

McCain, who refers to herself as a 'nepo baby' in her X bio, only kept the post up for a few minutes before deleting it.

However, many were quick to note the irony in McCain's post, with one X user remarking: "Is that the Meghan McCain who constantly reminds people that Senator McCain is her father."

"Meghan McCain commenting on Nepo Babies as if she isn’t the epitome of one is astonishing," another echoed.
