Ben Affleck's fans have been left puzzled this week after the actor was spotted wearing a wedding ring on his left hand.

A photograph of this surprising accessory was taken by paparazzi on Monday (7 Apr) as the 52-year-old took a smoke break on the streets of Los Angeles, immediately capturing the attention of passersby.

This is intriguing because, as far as we know, Affleck's divorce from Jennifer Lopez was finalized earlier this year - nine months after the 'On The Floor' singer reportedly filed to officially end their marriage.

The couple had reignited their early 2000s romance in 2021 after over a decade apart, and a year later, 'Bennifer' tied the knot.

Unfortunately, by 2023, the couple found themselves at the center of break-up rumors, which continued into 2024 when they were seen attending several red carpet events separately.

According to the official divorce documents made public last August, 55-year-old J.Lo cited 'irreconcilable differences' when explaining her decision to divorce, and she moved out of their luxurious home with her two children in the months that followed.

They were reported to have been separated since the previous April.

Naturally, when father-of-three Affleck - who shares daughters Violet Anne, 19, Seraphina Rose, 16, and son Samuel, 13, with ex-wife Jennifer Garner - was seen wearing a wedding ring this week, it raised questions.

However, it turns out the ring is merely a part of a costume, as the actor and filmmaker is currently working on a brand-new Netflix original movie titled Animals.

In addition to starring in the upcoming crime thriller, which revolves around the kidnapping of LA Mayoral Candidate Milo Bradford's son during a costly political campaign, Affleck also wrote the script and will direct the film.

Anyway, while taking a break from filming, the actor was seen in new paparazzi photos smoking a cigarette, wearing a button-down shirt, a blazer, dark blue jeans, and of course, a wedding ring.

Affleck portrays the married mayoral candidate in the series, which also features stars like Gillian Anderson, Kerry Washington, and Steven Yeun.

An industry insider told PEOPLE Magazine that this latest film is 'another one of Ben's passion projects,' and he's fully dedicated to his new role.

"He's both acting and producing," the source continued. "He's always great to work with."

"Filming just started, but it's been fantastic so far. Ben's been in a great mood and very enjoyable to work with."

The same insider mentioned that mother-of-two Lopez has also been refocusing on her career post-divorce and is set to star in a new rom-com titled Office Romance in the upcoming months.

They added that the actress and singer is 'excited for this new project' and is 'happy to be out of Los Angeles and spending more time in NYC'.
